EAA CHAPTER 1393 MEMBER MEETING MINUTES
Thursday, March 18, 2010 7:00 PM
Old Business:
1. Website – Shirley and Jesse are still working on the new and improved website. They are trying to make it more user friendly and more informative. Visit the website and see what has been done so far.
2. Attendance at the meetings – We need to get more people to attend the monthly meetings so they know what is going on with the chapter and we can have their input about events, etc. If you would like a reminder (telephone, email, whatever) about an upcoming meeting, just let someone on the board know.
Treasurer’s Report:
1. There is $1,411.73 in the account as of this date and $10 to be deposited. All bills are paid.
New Business:
1. Hartzell Factory Tour – There are sign up sheets for the tour at the FBO and also on the website. We would like to have a BIG turn out for this event. You can fly or drive to Piqua airport (It isn’t far by land or air!) and we will go to the factory together. We need to know by April 1st so the factory will know how many guides to provide. The factory is busy right now, so the tour should be very interesting.
2. Fly Market – The committee met last week to work out the details for the fly market. There has not been a fly market in this area for many years, so we think there will be a good turn out.
a. Event will be Saturday, May 22, rain or shine, in the city hangar from 9am to 4pm.
b. Middletown Aviation Foundation has asked a third party to provide the food and drink for the day and M.A.F. will get the profits.
c. C.A.P. has confirmed they will provide traffic control and security (starting Friday night).
d. Selling will be done ONLY in or around the city hangar.
e. All items to be sold will need to be listed on an inventory sheet and tagged. Inventory sheets and tags will be available ahead of time to make it easier. The sheets will be able to be downloaded from the website.
f. We are asking for donations to EAA 1393 from the sales.
g. ALL ITEMS MUST BE AVAITION RELATED!
h. You must provide your own table if you want one. Selling space will be 8 feet deep and as long as necessary; aisles will be 6 feet deep.
i. Flyers with all pertinent information will be sent out soon.
3. The members voted to get pens with our logo as gifts for this year. They are very nice pens and very inexpensive. Linda Bursk made a motion that we buy 100 pens; seconded by Ace Weeks. Motion passed.
4. John Evans suggested a visit to the World War II Museum in Germantown. The museum is open on weekends and the cost is only a small donation. The museum is at the old Mason’s Lodge in Germantown and John says it is very nice. Good suggestion – Thank you John.
Ace Weeks moved that the meeting be adjourned; seconded by Sam Nelson. The meeting was adjourned at 7:55pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Nancy Frank, Secretary

EAA CHAPTER 1393 BOARD MEETING
THURSDAY, JANUARY 14, 2010 6:30PM
Old Business:
1. The annual Christmas party was a big success (while being surprisingly inexpensive) and every one had a nice time – good food, good friends, and door prizes.
2. We still have 8 or 9 calendars left for only $2 if anyone is interested! We would like to finish selling these at the January meeting.
3. Membership is around 40 people – a nice size. Now we just need to get everyone interested in participating in our events and attending our meetings.
Treasurer’s Report: As of 1/14/2010 there is $1,515.13 in our account and all bills are paid.
New Business:
1. Elections are coming up at the January 21st meeting at MWO. We need to fill the positions of Young Eagles (Youth) advisor and Webmaster. If anyone interested in being a member of the board in ANY office, please come to the meeting. Being a member of the board takes very little time and can be fun.
2. The board voted unanimously to completely redo the website, making it much more interesting and updated. Any suggestions or HELP from members is welcome.
3. The Middletown Aviation Foundation would like to have the food concession at our Fly-market this May. Rich Bevis and friends would cook and sell the food (hamburgers, hot dogs, pop, etc) and donate the money to the foundation.
4. We need to discuss the fly-market at the January meeting so we can get the word out to all the nearby airports, EAA chapters, and pilots.
a. Limit sale items to aviation-related or R/C aviation-related items.
b. Tentative date to be Saturday, May 22nd.
c. It is open to both EAA members and non-members.
d. Suggest a gratuity or ask for a percentage of sales to be donated to our chapter.
